Here’s another thing I wrote way back when…

Author’s Note:
Hold on. Have you read O3W yet?
Check that out, it’s the prequel to this (or this is the sequel to that I guess)

So, a spoken word poet (FJ) put together a little indie competition in 2020 (yeah, that year), and after O3W, he asked me to take a stab at it.

I didn’t win🥲.
But I was the runner-up tho, which was pretty cool. 🙂
Never got my prize tho 😒

We were given a topic and a word count.
Everything else was up for grabs

Again, there’s some mistakes in there, and I’d probably craft something a little bit better now, but I wanted to keep it exactly as I wrote it (I did fix a typo tho).

seriously tho, what is it with FJ and the 300 word count

:::After the War:::

The fighting is over.

The troops have returned to their homes. In silent relief from battles lost, but a war won. Lives have been sacrificed. “Blood, sweat and tears” is not just an idiom anymore. As the civilians celebrate their naivete, the warriors remain home, holding close all that remains dear.

Sometimes, I wonder when the “world after Covid-19” is gonna begin. Honestly, Covid-19 isn’t something I talk about very much. Still, it’s important, so here.

I don’t completely know how the world will be, but I bet it will take some time to recover from how it was.

It’s not just about winning the battles; it’s about moving on after the war. We may win the fight, but we can’t forget what was lost along the way. I think we’ll need time and strength to recover from our losses.

We might be a bit anxious at first to relax protocols and come out of hiding. Sure, we’re doing that already, and “lockdown” has become more of “closed doors”, but somehow, we’re still careful.

We’re still walking on eggshells.

It may take some time, and faith, to get past our inertia. But we yearn for our world to go on. So, we do recognise the risks, but I guess after 5 months, some risks are worth it to live.

I do believe we will adapt though. I know that one day, those eggshells will crunch under our feet.

Because adapting is necessary for survival. If you think otherwise, then your species might be in trouble. Truth is the world has changed. The cheese has moved. I’m excited to see the aftermath of what our creativity brings.

But more than anything, I’m grateful to God that we’re all still here.
And I’m waiting to see if Skype is truly dead.

Getting out of my own head long enough to make a memory every once in a while. The world looks kinda nice sometimes.
