If there were more women in IT, you’d hear equally bizarre reasons for getting the promotion from them. People who aren’t promoted themselves will latch on to whatever. Its just what people do. They judge. People are always judging. I’m not saying they should. But if the field were dominated by women and a man got a promotion you’d be hearing the reverse. The war of the sexes is just a subset of said judgmentery. So, yeah. People are tribal. Make everyone the same shade of grey and people will identify as other shades so they can go back to judging. Because people need it.
Don’t internalize it just because you are a girl.
