We do our part: an end to the politics of heroism

Today, I watched Avengers: Endgame with my daughter and though it was thoroughly entertaining, it again got me thinking about our need for heroes. What does it mean that America’s most successful movie franchise of all time revolves around superheroes whom the world needs to save us? Some heroes have superpowers and some heroes are exceptionally talented people with nifty tools, but both kinds are entrusted with solving our problems for us.
