Electropop queen Jessy Lanza visits Hasselt in November
Canadian artist Jessy Lanza comes to Hasselt on tour to promote her latest album Oh No. Being a DJ, music producer, composer and singer are just some of her professional abilities. She also has been working as music professor at school.
Lanza started to feel the music due to her parents, which were musicians. She grew up surrounded by sound systems. When her father died, he left to her “a bunch of his synths and a couple of drum machines”.
With just thirty one years old, Jessy Lanza has become a discovery in electronic pop. Her music is a flamboyant mix of R&B, electronic and experimental pop music. She uses blunt and straightforward lyrics which envelop you into a halo of sadness and energy. Furthermore, she has found the way to turn nervous energy into a productive flow which help us to find a place of triumphant reclamation.
Her music career started with Pull My Hair Back in September 2012. This album was co-written and co-produced by Jeremy Greenspan of Junior Boys. Besides that album was nominee for the 2014 Polaris Music Prize. As a result of this project she achieved fame and The Guardian described her as “the latest and possibly greatest of the new ethereal soul girls”. Now, she has released her second album Oh No which also is being a success.
This globetrotter will visit in the next months Netherland, Germany, Ireland and the Czech Republic among others, but now is Hasselt time. So, do not miss it.
You can enjoy this amazing concert which will take place in Muziekodroom Box the next 8th of November at 21:30. Supporting act Olga Bell, a Russion electro artist, starts at 20:00.
