RELEASE: Dan Crenshaw votes no on bipartisan bill to solve the immigration crisis
Houston, TX — Tuesday evening, Congressman Dan Crenshaw voted against a bipartisan humanitarian aid bill to help relieve the immigration crisis. This “no” vote comes after chastising Democrats for not supporting the bill on Twitter.
In a series of tweets since the crisis began, the congressman has been vocal in calling on Democrats to support the humanitarian aid package.

However, Congressman Crenshaw flipped on his position late on Tuesday evening, voting against the bipartisan agreement he previously championed.
“When it came time to vote, Dan Crenshaw showed his true nature. After complaining that it was Democrats who wouldn’t pass the $4.5 billion for border security and humanitarian aid, he voted against it. He voted against assisting children and families who have shown up on our proverbial doorstep, running from violence and poverty, seeking asylum and the American dream. Who have instead landed in a nightmare.”
Over the past couple months, the number of immigrants from Central America apprehended by Customs and Border Patrol has increased dramatically. Just this last week it was reported that numerous asylum seekers were being detained without basic human necessities like soap and toothpaste. This vote comes a day after a horrific image of a drowned migrant family who had attempted to cross the border.
Cardnell continued, “There is no excuse for treating people the way we currently are at our southern border. It is not illegal to seek refuge, and yet we are detaining, isolating, and mistreating our fellow humans for attempting to pursue life and liberty.”
