You ever heard that old feminist phrase, “Women are afraid men will kill them; men are afraid women will laugh at them”?

Donald Trump absolutely exemplifies that trait. He writes letters correcting people on the size of his hands, for God’s sake. I think mocking the shit out of him is exactly the right tactic — it gives his ideas exactly the weight and consideration they deserve, which is none, and proves him again and again to be a glass-jawed bully who is way too sensitive to be President.

Additionally, the idea that humor is a tool that can only be deployed under trivial circumstances makes it seem like you think that humor is fundamentally a weak weapon. But in certain circumstances, humor is the very best weapon we have: It can comfort the oppressed so they have the courage to go on. It can build bridges to people unmoved by logic or turned off by righteous diatribes. And it can brilliantly expose flaws and hypocrisies.
