Calling For A Legislative Ban on Petting Zoos in Shopping Centres
12
Emily Carr
It is important for children to interact with animals as they learn about biodiversity, but the conditions that these animals are kept in are appalling. The example of the petting zoo set up in the middle of the shopping centre, bugs me. We humans are not just put on this earth to do what we want and treat other animals how we please. Petting zoos and other animal facilities need to have more structure, rather than just letting children walk around in groups and pat animals. Things like heated mats could possibly be used so the animals arent sitting on the cold floor for extended periods of time. The setting needs to be appropriate for the animals. It’s only fair!
Thanks for a great read, hope some initiative is taken soon
