The University of Vienna is a modern and at the same time, long-term, large institution that considers it a duty to carry out quality research and research-led teaching. Founded in 1365, it is the oldest German-speaking university in the world and one of the largest in Central Europe. The primary task and goal are to create and sustain high-quality research (integration with basic application-based research) and teaching, which are considered inseparable.

Although the University of Vienna does not operate student dormitories, there are several dormitories and private hostels throughout the region.

Library services

The Vienna Master of Arts on Human Rights has a small library of selected human rights literature. During opening hours, the University of Vienna’s 40 libraries have work rooms, free WiFi and electronic and print literature.

ICT Services

The University offers a comprehensive set of IT services through “u: net”, including Wi-Fi and on-campus public computer facilities, email, u: location (access and download services for research-related information), and printing. . Vienna’s Master of Arts’s human rights students have access to a classroom with computers, as well as free use of a printer/photocopier and scanner.

Sports facilities

Successful students can enroll in various courses at the University Sports Institute (USI) ranging from aerobics to Zen meditation.
