Afternoon Snatch, No Shame, Not Sorry
Once upon a time, I was a film critic for the gay press. I watched movies that weren’t even good enough to get into gay film festivals, so you wouldn’t have to. My scars are still healing (anyone who tries to make me watch Claire of the Moon again is no longer my friend), but I’m so glad I gave Afternoon Snatch a chance.
Afternoon Snatch features Annie, a broken-hearted, recently dumped humor editor of the feminist magazine Snatch. Annie’s ex includes a pair of their current girlfriend’s underwear in a box of her returned things. Annie’s vegan r0ommate is pissed because there’s butter in the kitchen. The new heteronormative intern has a lot to learn about queerness, and Annie’s transgender co-worker is more than happy to give the intern in-depth lessons.
I’m having a hard time putting these characters and the other ones in this web series into neat categories. That’s a good thing. I want to tell you how funny this web series is without spoiling any of the jokes. Also a good thing.
Guess, you’ll just have to watch it, because this lesbian, queer, transgender, vegan, polyamourous, super feminist and very, very funny web series is worth it. Afternoon Snatch has no shame about being what it is. The characters have no shame for being who they are. No one has any apologies. No one is coming out, and everyone knows who they are.
This web series is a breath of fresh air. A rollickingly funny breath of fresh air.
