Reading this really made me appreciate my part-time retail job more — I’m at Barnes & Noble, and they always have the schedule up at least a week in advance (usually two), and on-call shifts are volunteer only (i.e. you can volunteer to be on-call if you’re looking for more hours). I don’t know if this is franchise-wide or only my managers at my location, but based on my experience I’d recommend Barnes & Noble to anyone looking for a steadier schedule.
