12 Reasons You Should Be the CTO/Co-founder of our African Talent Marketplace (HK based)
We’re revolutionizing the recruitment and hiring industry in Africa by building a technology platform that connects top talent with the most exciting career opportunities in East Africa. More about our model.
Rapid growth
Our pilot launched in summer 2015, and we have done the hard work of signing up employers and talent. Our primary focus is Rwanda, but we are preparing to launch in the rest of East Africa this year.
A beautiful prototype
Designers from iKantam created our prototype based on extensive input from our target users in East Africa. It’s ready to be lovingly placed in your technological hands and brought to life.
(We are also hiring a Business Systems Manager and Digital Marketing Manager)
Life in Hong Kong

We have offices in Rwanda, soon Nairobi, and Hong Kong, which is where our CEO is based. You will build and lead a tech team in the city that Inc.com calls the “world’s next startup powerhouse”.
Unlimited learning opportunities
We don’t expect that this will be easy. In fact, it will be extremely difficult. Most of our clients are not digital natives, and we must design a user experience that is intuitive and seamless.
You will rack your brain to develop creative solutions for the unusual challenges that come with developing a tech platform for an emerging market.
Make your Mark
We are seeking a thought partner to join two co-founders in defining the vision for our company’s growth.
You will also get a significant equity stake.
Time in Rwanda

Alright, we are biased, but we think that Rwanda is one of the world’s greatest places to live, work, and travel. But don’t just take our word for it! CNN, BBC, National Geographic, and Condé Nast Traveler agree. As does the data — a Gallup poll ranked Rwanda as Africa’s happiest country; it’s the safest too.
You will regularly travel to our office in Kigali to work with our Sales and Talent teams, hang out at the amazing Akilah Institute campus, and chill with the silverback gorillas in the Virunga National Park.
An industry ripe for disruption
Most recruitment in Africa is still done through newspaper ads, paper CVs, or word of mouth. We’re going to change that.
Africa is expected to add 70 million new jobs by 2020. The opportunities are mind-boggling.
We know our stuff
Our team’s experience includes: founding a college with a 90% job placement rate and over 60 employment partners; writing the Fodor’s chapter on Rwanda and traveling the continent as a journalist for AllAfrica.com; designing the Mastercard Foundation’s strategy for youth employment initiatives in East Africa; designing training and recruitment projects for Kenyan corporations; launching a successful social enterprise in Madagascar (that was featured on Project Runway!); and developing a musical in Rwanda. Meet our team
Trade not aid
Building businesses and creating jobs is the best way to alleviate poverty, not more international aid. We are passionate about empowering African professionals to find their dream jobs, whether that’s at a small startup or a large corporation, and enabling employers to find top talent to lead and grow their businesses.
Support women’s education in Rwanda

A portion of profits is donated to our sister organization, the Akilah Institute, the only women’s college in East Africa. (Read why our CEO co-founded the Akilah Institute at age 24.)
Work hard, play hard
A policy of unlimited vacation time seems to be all the rage so we decided to test it out too. There’s no clocking in and out of an office. We trust you to work hard and then decide for yourself how much time you need to recharge.
Stunning scenery
Get those creative juices flowing with our team, who loves to hold meetings during our “walk and work” hikes around Hong Kong, which is 40% national park.

The technical co-founder will receive significant equity in the company. Technical experience and expertise are critical, but finding a co-founder who shares our beliefs about the critical need for this business is equally important.
We are deeply passionate about building a tech company that will directly contribute to economic development in Africa. Our talent marketplace will empower businesses and employers to identify top talent and scale their businesses. It will assist professionals in the search for their dream job and it will also create another revenue stream to support women’s education at the Akilah Institute.
