Well said, Donald. The best business plan in the world is worthless if your product or service doesn’t appeal to customers.

I wonder to what degree an entrepreneur’s success in pitching to VCs depends on the level of confidence that entrepreneur is able to convey. It’s been pretty thoroughly documented that women (in any industry, but especially in male-dominated industries like tech) are often viewed as either timid or pushy. A confident man is seen as, well, confident; a confident woman is not often granted that courtesy, even by other women!

So it’s not just a tech problem or a VC problem or a startup problem. It’s all of those things and more. It’s going to take years to fix, but at least we’re finally starting to talk about it.
