Amy — thank you for sharing your horrific experience. I too, was the victim of a rape (at 13). I remembered what happened and told my mother (an RN) but I was gaslighted by her and the family, no one believe it happened, no spoke about it and no charges were filed.

There’s no feeling more horrific than being physically violated by a stranger and then emotionally battered by one’s family because they refuse to acknowledge their child needs their help at a time when they need it most.
