Postscript

Elizabeth Helmich

The last embers of sun
dance over changeable tides.

Dragonflies dart and dash,
alignment flows freely
into the harbor of souls.

Walls dismantle themselves
as her head nests in the crook
of a promise.

Floorboards reconnect
while chests rise and dip
in natural rhythm.

Cares dock for the night
within soft vessels, churning
their own poetry

on star-dried parchment
read only by the moon,
plus two.
