Teachers are often prevailed upon to go far beyond the scope of their jobs. Job notices and our contracts have the clever phrase, “duties as assigned” to encompass all the jobs not related to teaching that we are expected to do: bus duty, lunch duty, after school programs, supervising during assemblies, chaperoning dances. The list could go on.
