Season 2, however, takes the story to new depths, exploring the complexities of each individual and their family dynamics.

Naima’s Journey

In this season, Naima embraces taking chances in life, especially with her love interest Matthew. Although, she still struggles with anxiety.

Despite a relapse, Naima’s resilience shines through. The series delves into her relationship with her mother, highlighting how her father’s death profoundly affects her.

The portrayal of her grief and her interactions with friends and family showcases her growth.

The group therapy scenes are well-done, with the therapist delivering a stellar performance.

Naima’s determination to prioritize her well-being in the end is truly inspiring.

Hanifa’s Story

Hanifa remains the voice of reason, excelling in her career while selflessly shielding those around her.

Her dynamic with her sister, Afrah is heartwarming, and she’s in a better mental place.

However, a tragedy strikes, leaving her story on a suspenseful note. Her character’s strength and wisdom continue to shine.

Zainab’s Struggle

Zainab is haunted by grief of Bappa, yet she maintains strength with focus and success at job leading to a promotion.

Her complex relationship with her mother is explored further, leading to a sweet reconciliation with her sister.

Just as a new love blossoms with a colleague Tariq ,the past re-emerges, adding a twist to her tale in the end.

Baddie’s Transformation

Baddie’s Growth is my favorite this season.

Initially a shadow of her former self after her marriage, she bravely confronts a lie that nearly consumes her. Using the help of her parasocial relationship with her social media following; she shares her struggles without shame, ultimately choosing to walk away with no regrets.

Her firm decision not to become a mother in unsafe circumstances is a testament to her strength.

Baddie for life!

Sarruyah’s Downfall

Sarruyah remains malicious, her conniving nature leading to further evil deeds. She still has an obsession with Kassim.

The actress delivers a convincing performance, making Sarruyah’s eventual downfall and tears satisfying on her part.

Supporting characters that deserve more time.

Maryam, a promising young woman betrothed to be married to Kassim one time Zizi’s love interest, stands out.

Her intelligence and journey through balancing duty of family and career trajectory as well personal fulfillment with love make her a character to watch.

Another character is Bilqis. She indirectly is a life-saver for Baddie. It is painful to see how guilt and shame holds her down.

Her kindness and empathy deserve more recognition.

The Essence of Beyond the Veil

Beyond the Veil

Beyond the Veil abridges the complexity of Northern muslim women’s lives and their challenges.

While some may feel the show doesn’t fully address every societal issue, it sparks important conversations and calls for change.

The production quality is solid, better dialogue and with beautiful locations in Abuja.

The storytelling is easy to follow. Although, there were some missing opportunities to make it better in this season.

Hopefully, in the next season we get more explanations of these scenes.

I can’t wait for Season 3!

The series is streaming on Prime Video.
