Thank you for writing this eloquent piece. It was helpful to read as I sort through my thoughts this past many days as a white woman ally/comrade/activist feeling enormous grief and anger, wondering how best to express myself and also support others in their grief. I work in film which has similarities to tech in many ways. I am used to being the only woman, or one of very few. The statistics for people of color are similar or worse, although there are increasingly more inroads (in response to activism and increased awareness?).

The fear of doing/saying the wrong thing is a cop out. I appreciate and applaud your firm encouragement of showing up, speaking out, supporting our friends, co-workers and more at the risk of being awkward.

Connecting with each other can feel vulnerable and awkward but the risk is worth it. Disconnection breeds (more) fear, misunderstanding and worse. We need more connection, more empathy, more compassion and humanity that encompasses all of our humanity.

Thank you again for your voice and for writing this.
