Customer Service COUNTS in Affiliate Marketing! — Part 2

Yesterday, I talked a lot about physical stores and how they work with customer service and support.

Today, I want to continue the conversation by talking about how customer support and service works in affiliate marketing.

One of the biggest “pros” (if you’re doing a pros/cons list to decide whether to get into affiliate marketing) is that you don’t have to store, maintain, or service any products.

While this is true in one sense, it’s completely UNTRUE in another…

As an affiliate marketer, you don’t have to service the products you sell. For instance, if you are selling supplements from a company on Clickbank, the customer is going to have to go directly back to the company for support. It’s out of your hands.

If they bought a product that told them they would lose 60 pounds in 30 days, and that doesn’t happen… that’s the company’s problem — not yours.

BUT — professionals don’t promote that kind of nonsense.

Professionals are entrepreneurs, not marketers. Entrepreneurs provide a unique level of customer support. Here is what I truly believe an affiliate entrepreneur must do in order to succeed at customer service and support.

They must do these things in order to be successful, but they also must do these things because, well… they are the right thing to do. As always, I will use my product, The Four Percent Success Challenge, as my example.

1 — In order to convert sales, an entrepreneur has to provide exceptional support in answering questions and providing knowledge about the product.

As a promotional partner for Four Percent as a company, I can answer almost any question about the products. And if I can’t answer a question, I know exactly how to get the answer. To me, there is no such thing as, “I don’t know.” “I don’t know” always comes with “but let me find out for you and get back to you.”

That’s customer service.

When customers are trying to make an investment, they are going to have a lot of questions — as they should. I would be more concerned if someone just bought the product without asking any questions.

In fact, when I have made sales and the person has asked no questions, they have returned the product within 30 days.

2 — You must be a product of the product.

Everything I have learned about affiliate entrepreneurship has come from The Four Percent Success Challenge (and ClickFunnels). I understand these products and I know exactly what they were created to do.

I live and breathe these products in my everyday life, because they have changed my mindset in the deepest of ways. I am a better person because of them.

As an entrepreneur, I understand that potential customers can smell BS a mile away. If I didn’t believe in the product, I would struggle to sell it successfully. And again, I don’t believe in selling a product I know nothing about, or haven’t used.

3 — You have to ensure the product is helping people.

Once you have made the sale, you are not done! As an affiliate entrepreneur, it is your responsibility to continue communications with your customers to make sure they are getting what they need from the product they have purchased.

A product like The Four Percent Success Challenge is a high-end, high-quality product. Again, customers should have questions! And you want to be able to answer those questions. Otherwise, a budding affiliate entrepreneur might decide to walk away before they have even had a chance to make an attempt at success.

I have learned that as an entrepreneur, it is my responsibility to be successful.

Let me say that again: IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

It follows that, part of that success should absolutely be the success of my clients.

Wouldn’t you agree.

THE BIG FINISH…

If you’re selling snake-oil as an affiliate marketer, then no, you really don’t have to do much in the way of customer service. You can get your product out there and sell it to whoever you want. In that sense, you are running a side hustle.

But if you’re an affiliate entrepreneur, a professional, you have to ensure your customers receive the highest level of support. You are running a business.

When your customers receive the highest level of support, they will come back to you again and again, because they know what you are about: Ensuring their lives better through the products and services you provide.
