There are movies where directors put their bad guys in a car. Then, there are movies where a car itself is a negative character. In most of the movies, cars are just the source to help a hero in order to protect his love. However, across the years, some of the scariest movies have involved four wheelers in most of the scenes. We are going to list some of the movies where cars were as spooky as ghosts. And yes, you will need more than airbags to save yourself from the destruction that moves towards you with these iconic horror movie cars.

Here are some wicked machines on wheel in the horror movie universe.

Jeepers Creepers (2001) And The Legendary Chevy

The plot of the movie starts with two siblings heading home after spring break. They pass through an isolated, small town. There, they encounter some dreadful road rage. They find a stash of disfigured human remains and later were hunted by The Creeper. Well, if you can hear a song on your radio which goes like:

“Jeepers creepers, where’d you get them peepers?

Jeepers creepers, where’d you get those eyes?”

Then, it is too late to save yourself. This movie is about a nightmarish plot with a nerve-jangling song playing throughout giving you the chills down the spine.

Jeepers Creepers hit the theatres in 2001. 1941 Chevrolet Cab Over Engine is the famous classic car that terrorises the protagonists and the town members. The terrifying horn of the car is as scary as The Creeper inside to leave you with Goosebumps. The body of the Chevy was modified to convert it to “The Creeper Truck”. The distressed box was added in its rear and front bumper, and the wheelbase was shortened. It was carefully designed to make it as terrifying as possible. A total number of three trucks were used in making the film.

Duel (1971) And Its Psycho-Killer Tanker

The story of this movie revolves around a Californian businessman. He was featured travelling through the desert to meet up with a client. When he passes by an old tractor-trailer, his trip turns upside down. The Plymouth truck driver which is sketched out as less friendly and entirely evil chases him down a deserted highway. The 1971 thriller TV shows become a feature film directed by Steven Spielberg. Dennis Weaver (the victim) stars in this action-packed thriller. He received a lot of praises for his performance. The tanker truck used in this movie is a red Plymouth Valiant. Total of three trucks were used while shooting the film. It was a decision made by Spielberg to choose the colour red to make the cab resemble a face. It stands out on a dusty and deserted road.

The Hearse (1980) And Its Devilish Driver

Jane Hardy, recent divorcee makes a decision to get away from her normal schedule for some time. She decides to spend some time with her aunt in the small town of Blackford. There she discovers that her aunt is involved in witchcraft. She feels threatened by a possessed hearse and its wicked driver. She starts to doubt that hearse is somehow connected to her witchy aunt and feels that her life is in danger.

The 1980 horror movie stars Trish Van Devera. The film doesn’t have any scene of a victim meeting tragic death. It still offers a creepy plot with twist and turns. The hearse is a 1951 Packard Funeral Coach Henney which sends chills down the spine of the viewers.

Death Proof (2007) And Its Deadly Motorist And Stunt Car

It is a story of a stuntman who uses his death-proof car to create highly dramatic accidents where he murders young women. The exciting thing to see in this movie is whether these women meet their unfortunate demise or outrun to survive his murderous plots.

Quentin Tarantino is recognised to create horrific, unbearable to watch scenes in his horror flicks. Death Proof is an exceptionally amazing addition to his remarkable list of work. Kurt Russell is the man behind the wheels who stars in this action-horror film. 1970 Chevy Nova and 1969 Dodge Charger are the two death-proof cars used in this film.

The 1970 Chevy Nova is rated #3 on Car Throttle’s list of Top 5 Chevy Movie Cars of All Time. The car was modified to fit the killer behind the wheel. It was painted with black matte colour, with creepy white skulls and thunderbolts on its hood.

The Car (1977): An Evil Black Lincoln

The film is about the roads near the town of Santa Thea where a black car rampages murdering people. The sheriff struggles to catch the 1971 Lincoln Continental and the mysterious murderer. But as the scene unfolds, many members fall prey to the car striking fear in the heart of the town. It is later discovered that there is no criminal behind the murders but rather an evil-supernatural car.

This movie was directed by Elliot Silverstein in 1970’s and stars James Brolin. This thriller horror was lacklustre but the tale behind Lincoln Continental is worth mentioning. A car customiser who has worked in many Hollywood movies, George Barris was the man behind the design of the car. During the film shoot, four Lincolns were customised and used. Three of them got destroyed during the production while the last one remained intact.

There are many motorsport vehicle wrapping designs that you can try out. But if you are a fan of horror-thriller then you should consider these wrapping designs. So, modify your car with a touch of horror to trigger the fear and chills in real time.
