Winter is coming, as evidenced by the chilly mornings and shorter days of October. In years past, a timely flu vaccine and a winter coat were all you might need to navigate the winter months. This year, however, will prove a little different thanks to Covid. The uncertainty of the pandemic has caused a greater sense of urgency to be prepared. It is challenging to plan for the ‘somewhat’ unknown. As the winter months approach, the experts are indicating you should have the following supplies on hand.

Cleaning Supplies and Sanitizers

For the past several months nothing has been in shorter supply than sanitizing wipes and sprays. Thankfully, cleaning and sanitizing supplies have recently become more available. Now is a great time to restock your supply. Most stores will limit how many cleaning supply items you can purchase so be sure to pick up one item on each shopping trip. Be mindful, these types of products degrade over time so be careful not to overstock your supply.

Exercise Equipment

Home gym equipment has also been in short supply. As the weather improved outdoor workout options became plentiful and many gyms reopened. Demand for home equipment decreased and these items are once again in stock. Take some time to consider your fitness plan and options for the winter. If you would like to continue with outdoor exercise, make sure you have appropriate clothing. Winter clothing for outdoor sports is available in great variety so purchase now to have the best opportunity to get what you want.

Outdoor Winter Activity Supplies

This spring and summer witnessed a huge demand for pools and outdoor recreational equipment. It is likely the same will happen for cold weather products. Now is the time to put in a fire pit, purchase outdoor heaters and lights and stock up on sleds. There is a good chance that by the time cold weather arrives the availability of those items will have dwindled.

Shelf-Stable & Essential Goods

A two-week supply of food, medication and essentials is always a good idea. Shortages occurring in the early stages of the pandemic have been resolved as suppliers, stores and consumers have adjusted to lifestyle changes. Items such as baking supplies, some meats and grains and paper products (toilet paper/paper towels) may still only be available for purchase in limited quantities. Inventory your supplies so you have what you need if you find yourself confined to your home.

Holiday Gifts

Delays and inventory issues could become an issue this holiday season. Beginning your holiday shopping now will increase your chances of purchasing the gifts you want to give and receiving them in a timely manner.
