Germany

I went to visit a dear friend in Germany a few years ago, and I can’t tell you how impressed / stunned I was by the high quality of EVERYTHING and the health and innovative thinking of the professional community. I came back to the outsource it, consume it fast, and throw it away economy of the US and decided that the only thing we make better than the Germans is dental floss. We make waaaay better dental floss, seriously. But the rest of it, from toilets to door handles to cars to EVERYTHING was so superior in Germany, I was impressed to high heaven and stunned and perplexed. I needed to find out why. Not only is good engineering a cultural value, but in my observation, they kept the Think-Manage-Make-Use Ecosystem all inside their country. They outsource some, for sure, but there still exists Universities (think), Companies (manage), Manufacturing (make), and of course, Consumers (use), all inside Germany — and the difference is stunning. Most posts to support and validate this thought are coming. Enjoy!
