I wholeheartedly agree with the thesis here but Target furniture is The Worst. For my first apartment post-college I bought a dresser and a night stand there — the dresser literally caved in overnight after I spent three hours assembling it, something about the wood glue not drying quickly enough on the approximately 10000 tiny little pegs. I pulled it apart and brought the whole shitty bundle of particle board back to the store where they, to their credit, gave me my $90 back. The nightstand kind of did the same thing but at a much slower pace, and was tossed in the dumpster when I moved. IKEA for life.
