Grounded simplicity. I, too, was drawn to van der Kolk’s need to feel the comfort of his wife’s bum against him. Makes me think of coming home from Internship and just needing to hold my husband or get a wiggly hug from my 10 year old son. So very important. Self-care and self-awareness are so vital, yet often neglected. It is a reminder that was we work within the pain of humanity, we need the heart of humanity to ease our own humanity.
