Reminds me of Dr. Allender’s work when he will stop a patient from sharing their story, until they are able to deeply connect with themselves in authentic kindness. Only at that point will he allow them to enter into the particularities of their trauma. He has often stated that change is often dependent on how we hold ourselves when we tell our story. It is when we are able to connect from a foundation of gentleness toward oneself that we are able to experience transformation.
