Sleep deprivation is not a badge of honor

I’ll just say that I knew I hadn’t slept enough, and when I did finally get the right amount of shut-eye I was happy, evenly balanced emotionally, able to weather the ups and downs of daily work life, able to focus intentionally on family time and time with my young son. For me, enough sleep is the holy grail of how to feel good as a person. I know some people have insomnia and other things that make good sleep challenging to achieve and so I intend no insensitivity, but for me, good sleep is a non-negotiable for a stable and happy life.
