One partner’s willingness to take personal responsibility for their mental illness can affect a lot. You don’t choose to have a mental disorder, but you can choose to proactively control it, whether that be with meds, therapy, whatever. It IS something a couple can survive through and thrive, it just needs to be taken seriously and responsibly. That said, those with a mental disorder deserve long term love as much as anyone else.
