Facebook copy Snapchat’s code scanner.
And you’ll love it. Because adding someone is now easy as a photo.

I love Snapchat. Makes sense. I’m 18 and have a phone. And I have always loved that on Snapchat you can add friends by simply scanning a personal QR-like code (which is personal to everyone) and then you have added them.
This Snapchat feature is great as teenagers are lazy as can be, and Facebook have decided to copy, which makes sense. I’m expecting that Instagram and Twitter will follow very shortly.
Above I have made a step by step guide on how to add people by Facebook’s QR code-like feature. And if you prefer words, then….
- Go to Facebook Messenger App
- Press in the bottom right corner on the “me” tab
- Now your code will be there, big, bold and beautifuly
- Press on your code and you come to a page with more options
- Here you can select between “My code” and “Scan Code”
- Press “Scan Code” and a camera will open, now you simply hover over someone else’s code and boom, that’s it. You just sent them a friend request
It’s that easy to add a friend on Facebook now!
Facebook have also added that, if you have a photo of your friend’s code in your photo albums, then you can tap the image corner, in the bottom left, and select the image with the code on. Then that’s it, added.

I absolutely love that Facebook have done this, it might not be incredibly unique but once people actually start using the feature, it will be a great feature to the app.
Tell me if you have actually added someone with the code in the comments. Thank you!
