Bluetooth headphones not working on Ubuntu 17.04
Ok, Ubuntu pisses me off from time to time, but luckily i find certain fixes that work, take for example some bluetooth headphones I got my hands on recently, for some god forsaken reason they only played in mono sound, i’m pretty sure sound is played through pulseaudio in ubuntu gnome 17.04, and it’s working fine, on both laptop speakers and 35mm earbuds, but for some reason it won’t play high fidelity audio through bluetooth. Make sure your headset device has been removed from your bluetooth manager, proceed to close the bluetooth manager and open a terminal window
I went ahead and did the following from this URL :
sudo apt install pulseaudio pulseaudio-utils pavucontrol pulseaudio-module-bluetooth
I think pulseaudio bluetooth is installed by default, anyway, next…
sudo gedit /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf
For some reason this file doesn’t exist, I tried looking the files up on some Ubuntu VMs I have, those files… diddly squat, anyway, add this file or edit this file to include the following
# This section contains options which are not specific to any
# particular interface
[General]
Enable=
# Switch to master role for incoming connections (defaults to true)
#Master=true
and finally restart the bluetooth service, like so… (make sure your bluetooth manager is closed)
sudo service bluetooth restart
Go ahead and add your headset, and on sound settings choose high fidelity audio
