Nice to meet you

Hi, my name is Eloise and I will be a UXDI student at General Assembly this June. I just graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology so naturally the first question I get asked here in the midwest is, “then why do you want to do design?” I have found that answering this question has really made me think of why I want to learn about user experience design especially coming from a place where I thought I wanted to be a psychologist. When I realised my junior year of college that I did not want to pursue psychology, I seriously debated changing over to Strategic Communications in the Journalism School or possibly even fine arts. However, after a lot of thought, I realised that a psychology degree could offer me support no matter what it was that I pursued because at the root of any career is the ability to work with and understand people. What makes them tick? What makes them drawn to the things that they are drawn to? That to me is also the essence of ux design; understanding how design can make people feel.
