Reinventing a beachchair in 28 hrs

We are BEACHBUDD, a team that didn’t exist 28 hrs ago. We enable people to be comfortable on the beach with minimum material. We just celebrated our first working prototype! Budd, let me start at the beginning.

Friday the 11th of November, Lucas pitched an idea on Startup weekend Utrecht: a beach chair that suits the needs of the beach visitors.

Leonard, Lucas, Mark, Tijl, Wesam, Arwind and Els joined the team. Here we are!

Let’s take this idea into action. Let’s make a chair!
Or not? We made several designs that can be comfortable…

And decided it can be better, easier, lighter, more comfortable and innovative. Because, well…

We made a scraper tool, so you can create your own seat! The scraper would look something like this:

Almost self explaining

So, after sleeping on it for a night, we started to get this idea into action. The first prototypes were made and we started testing it in sand.

This evolved into a design that our potential customers seem to love. A table, that can be used as a seat maker as well. We call it… BEACHBUDD!

And then it was time for action, less than 20 hrs after hearing the idea for the first time, we picked up some heavy tools and started building stuff.

Why is this crazy guy (Lucas) wearing shorts in the winter? Well,.. we don’t know either.
