Thank you for the knowledge that the article provided. I agree that Apple does need to change their practices. The review team should definitely be catching stuff like this that is clearly not beneficial to the App Store.
However, if some person downloads the app (automatically installs) and then sees that subscription text when they tap something in the app, then they deserve to be charged $99.99. The subscription text clearly says you are agreeing to subscribe for $99.99 for a 7 day subscription. Since subscriptions renew automatically without cancellation that means every seven days you will be charged $99.99. Maybe they wanted to try it out for $99.99 and forgot to cancel it. Again, that’s their own fault. How do you think Verizon made millions of dollars on a ring back tones subscriptions!
The App Store clearly has some issues but placing your fingerprint upon that touch ID means that you should understand what you are purchasing. This means people should stop being in such a hurry and actually read the text rather than just assuming.
