MPC Falls to Fresno City in 3rd Round of Playoffs
by Francisco Osornio
The Fresno City Rams have put an end to MPC’s season Wednesday night, defeating the Lobos 103–83 in the third round of the California Community College Athletic Association playoffs. The Rams were in control for a majority of the game, using a dogged full-court defense to slow down the Lobos.
The Lobos held a small lead early on, but the short-handed team was unable to keep up with a stacked Fresno City team. A fast start in the second half did help bring MPC to within six, but after a few minutes the Rams flexed their deep bench to extend their lead back up to 14. From that point on Fresno City was able to hold off the Lobos, taking a 20 point lead with under three minutes to play.
Four players reached double figures for the Lobos, with Kyle Hieb leading the team with 18 points in his final game as a Lobo. MPC finishes off the season with a 20–10 record.
The three seeded Rams will advance to take on Contra Costa this Saturday in the fourth round of the CCCAA playoffs.
