I think you’re spot on regarding the reasons, I think a lot of people are unaware — but I feel like it’s a really easy change. I do think following the correct brand guidelines is professional best practise despite the user being able to recognise the logo. In my mind they’ll have to be changed at any rate once the company reaches a certain scale e.g. to use these logos on TV, press or within a large mailing campaign, legally, requires sign off.
