This column is throws a broadside irresponsibly, I think, at all “major media.”

Column starts with this near the top:

“This did not stop a media explosion declaring an imminent apocalypse. A frenzy of clickbait and terrifying narratives emerged as every major news entity raced to capitalize on the collective Ebola panic.”

I took the time to dig out the NY Times initial reporting of the incident. Read it and watch the video there that the Times posted with the story here:

https://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/24/nyregion/craig-spencer-is-tested-for-ebola-virus-at-bellevue-hospital-in-new-york-city.html

Very responsible reporting, it appears, by the NYT.

The problem is not the major media, for the most part. But there is a terrible problem with fake news and so many folks’ eagerness to consider the crap they see on Facebook as news. To read and swallow any fake news that pops up in their email, and then “share” it — showering all their friends with online piss.
