Encouraging Words About The End
We will be with the Lord forever.
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 CSB
Eternity with God. Sharing in His glory. Singing to Him. Sitting at His right hand with Jesus. Eternal life. No more pain or suffering. No more tears.
These are the reasons he said to encourage one another with these words. So that we do not live like those with no hope who are so fearful of death. We all deep inside fear death, at least at some points in our life. But as believers we know what the end brings. We can be confident in it. God doesn’t want us to be fearful of it. And this passage is a great reminder to not let the world be your home. We are foreigners in this land. We have an eternal home prepared for us by Jesus himself!!! In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2
Psalms 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants.” God delights in the death of saints. We will get to go share in His glory and He paid the ultimate price so that this reality would be possible. He love us and longs for us to be there with Him. Although we may fear death, He knows it will us to Him, therefore He delights in it. But on the other hand He does not delight in the death of the wicked. Ezekiel 33:11 Tell them, ‘As I live—this is the declaration of the Lord God—I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked person should turn from his way and live. Repent, repent of your evil ways! Why will you die, house of Israel?’ 1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
He wants us to be in heaven with Him forever and He made the way for it to happen through Jesus Christ. This is so encouraging and when we are wavering in our faith and feel like we are suffering for nothing. Take courage and remember what God has done through Jesus and be encouraged that no matter the suffering and pain in this life, when we finish the race, there will be no comparison of the trials to the amount of glory we will experience with the Father forever.
2 Peter 3:9 “ The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
