Yep, those are all great points and potentially true. There are a couple things that this brings to mind:

  1. Automation beyond manufacturing. I’m also trying to imagine what it might mean if so called “white collar” jobs are automated to some degree.
  2. For any of the automation predictions to come true it would have to become cheaper than human labour for the same work, otherwise this is all kind of a moot point and it will never happen under the current conditions.

When you say “resource economy” are you talking about natural resources? Or other types? I don’t see a strong future for a natural resource commodity based economy… we’re already destroying the planet by trying to extract as much as possible and that won’t be able to go on much longer.
