How We Plan to Be Successful
Communication and Communication Frequency
Communication is a major key to the success of any team, virtual or not. We will do the majority of our communication through a group message on our phones. This is the easiest and quickest way for us to communicate. The majority of our communication will occur when we have an assignment due in the coming week. We will reach out to each other early on and discuss which individuals will do what parts of the assignment. When we find it necessary, we will meet face to face at a location that we will discuss. We will also meet briefly every day after class just to check in with one another and make sure we are on track and on the same page.
Conflict and Resolution
Just like in any team, our team will deal with conflicts and disagreements on certain ideas and approaches by talking it out. Our team will always be willing to listen and take into consideration every person’s ideas and thoughts. If there is a complete disagreement on how to do something or who should do it, then we will vote as a team to decide. Majority will win and if there is a tie then rock, paper, scissors can never go wrong.
Work Ethic and Work Load
Every member of this team brings something unique and valuable. We all have different strengths and weaknesses. With these we will try to delegate certain tasks to the member that feels as though they will prosper the most. We will examine all our Gallup Strengths and determine who will do what part of the project based upon what they are good at. Since we do not know each other very well, it will have to be on a volunteer basis until we feel comfortable using our strengths how they should be used. Regarding having the same amount of workload for everyone there will have to be some accountability. We will have to hold one another accountable, but also ourselves. If someone does not do their part, we will discuss what extra work they should do on the next project. Everyone has been in a group where there are slackers, and of course you do not want to fail, so someone always has to pick up the extra slack. Our group will be open and honest and not be afraid to hold each other accountable.
Leadership
Our team will not be led by one sole person. Every single person has the same amount of power as the rest. Every single person has the opportunity to take lead on a project or assignment. We are all equal.
Learning
Like I said above through communication and through accountability we will ensure that all of us are learning. If we are all doing our parts, it will insure we will learn what we want. We will learn from our mistakes and failures, and won’t be afraid to ask for help when we don’t understand something. With every mistake our group makes, we will discuss it in our weekly face to face meeting after class on why it happened and to ensure that it does not happen again.
