Does it contain expressions or images that are clichéd or sentimental?
Giving Constructive Feedback
K.E. Kimball

I’ve thought about this a lot… over the years, actually. The standard thing for a writer is to slash all clichés and “sentimental’s”…but I’ve decided there’s tyranny in that demand. Yes — mostly it’s necessary…on the other hand, clichés are clichés for reason. The original, poetic expression so touched that it stayed. And stayed… In a certain way, disallowing a cliché is like disallowing flowers in a vase.

[I may write about this sometime.]
