Sebastian Ang Linqapp

How are you upgrading learning?

Linqapp is a mobile platform for language learners that helps them to easily get in touch with native speakers. We are upgrading the learning experience by giving students the chance to easily practice their speaking abilities and get help from native speakers when they need it. On top of that, we will allow our users to monetize their own language skills in various ways. This will make Linqapp very exciting for anybody who loves language.

Why are you the team to do it?

We are the team to do it because we are all passionate about learning and understanding languages. My co-founder and I met in Taiwan where we were studying Chinese. We were faced with insurmountable language barriers ourselves and decided that there should be an app just like Linqapp, so we decided to create one! Moreover, we are a very international team that can cover six languages which comes in handy.

What stage are you at?

Our apps for both iOS and Android are already available for download. A web version of Linqapp is about to launch in the coming weeks, as is “Linqapp Live: English — Chinese”. This will be our first commercial product that, with the touch of a button, will offer live on demand interpreters via smartphone.

What are the top three things that you hope to accomplish while being a part of the accelerator?

We would like to get as much feedback as possible from actual users of our upcoming products, find partners to cooperate with and raise our seed round.

And finally, first impressions of the accelerator so far?

We are very happy we joined Emerge and we feel that indeed we are being accelerated. The program is very well organised and we have already made big progress in these first few weeks. We are looking forward to the upcoming weeks!

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
