Emerson Paul Curley Jr. is an accomplished nurse who has worked with the University of Maryland Medical Center since 2018. Active in his field, Emerson Curley maintains membership with the American Nurses Association (ANA), which advocates on behalf of four million nurses across the country.

To honor these nurses, the organization typically holds a celebratory week for them every May. Because of the ongoing pandemic, however, ANA extended this to a month-long event, which was divided into four areas of focus: self-care, recognition, professional development, and community engagement.

During the first week, ANA highlighted the importance of mental and physical well-being. The second week was focused on recognizing the essential work of nurses, leaders, and innovators in their respective fields.

During the third week, ANA released the “Magnifying Your Voice — Use Storytelling to Advance Nursing” webinar, promoting effective communication within the profession. The four-week event ended educating the community about the nurses’ work and how they can support all those who work in health care.
