The word noodle derives from the German word nudel. Noodles is one of the famous staple food around the world made from unleavened dough which is stretched, extruded, or rolled flat and cut into one of a variety of shapes. One of the most loved meals around the world is noodles, which make the favorite of the young and old alike. It’s available in the market as instant noodles, which can be cooked in less than 5 minutes. Here are some fun, interesting and lesser known facts about Noodles.

It is said that, noodles were first made from millet, a kind of cereal grain in China. In 2002, archaeologists along the Yellow River in China found an earthenware bowl containing some 4000-year-old noodles which had been well preserved. Later it was found out that noodles originated from a desert region in Central Asia. Other theories suggest noodles were first made in the Middle East and introduced to Italy by the Arabs.

1.October 6th is considered as the national Noodles day in United States of America.

2.Instant noodles are now considered as an inexpensive food item today, but they were once sold as luxury item in the early ages.

3.Noodles proved its mark in the outer space too. Top Ramen were the first noodle ever consumed in space.

4.There’s a museum in Japan which is fully dedicated to cup noodles.

5.In Japan, slurping loudly while eating your noodles is not considered a poor etiquette. Rather, it signifies appreciation for your host that the meal being served is delicious.
