That humbling realization of the size of the love required to embrace someone who feels so far away has me feeling exhausted and honestly not quite up to the task
I Guess That’s Why They Call It The High Road

Thing is, a ton of people on all sides feel this way. I’m not saying those other versions make much sense (to me), but there’s this undertone across the spectrum right now that the other side is deplorable, irredeemable, corrupt, untrustworthy…and this self-convincing happening that, by trying to understand it at all, or even just to tolerate it, is to take the high road vis a vis the deplorable other side. To me, regardless of election outcome, our nation is more divided than ever — not just on opinions and issues, but in this super deep storytelling/tribal/retracting way.
