The Resistance Session Report

The two games I played were The Resistance and One Night Ultimate Werewolf. Out of the two, I decided to do a session report on The Resistance because we spent the majority of our time playing it.

The game is about strategy, Spies and Resistance are opposing team. The goal is to deceive and choose people to go on missions. If the mission ends in three fails, the spies win. If the mission succeeds three times, Resistance wins.

For the first game, we did a practice play through. Cards were dealt out and I peaked at mine to see I was part of the Resistance. Chris started out as the team leader first and chose who to go on the mission with him. Chris chose Bryant to go on the mission with him. I was fine with it because it was the first mission, you don’t know who is a spy and who is resistance yet. Everybody picked up the game pretty fast.

The first mission turned out to be a success. Bryant and Chris were chosen again for the second mission as well as Jamie. The second mission was a failure. Suspicions began to rise. I felt that Bryant was the spy because he was awfully quiet when the second mission resulted in failure.

Austin and Bryant went on the third mission. It ended up as a failure again. I knew for sure Bryant and Austin were spies from the constant eye contact they made with each other. However, I kept bringing attention to them that it made me look even more suspicious. No one believed I was part of the Resistance!

The game became 2–2 for both Resistance and Spies, each team needed that third point to win. I voiced my strong felt opinion that both Bryant and Austin should not go on the last mission. The team leader decided to leave me off the mission. Bryant, Austin, Chris, Jamie, and Hannah go on the last mission. I accepted defeat at that point as the mission ended in failure and victory for the spies. It was Austin and Bryant!

I realize that it is easy to conceal yourself as the spy if you let the first mission succeed to divert suspicion. I am still in disarray that nobody believed me.
