In today’s fast-paced and competitive digital landscape, growth marketers are constantly seeking innovative strategies to drive business growth and stay ahead of the curve.

Enter ChatGPT, a powerful AI language model that can revolutionize the way growth marketers build their roadmaps.

ChatGPT can be used in so many ways that it can feel overwhelming to know where to start. Once you learn how to use this tool in your day-to-day, you’ll unlock your full potential as a marketer, opening your mind to new ideas and approaches to tough problems.

Let’s dive into the exciting world of ChatGPT prompts and discover how they can supercharge your growth marketing roadmap.

Ideation and brainstorming

One of my favorite things to use ChatGPT for is brainstorming. By providing ChatGPT with a summary of your organization and/or product along with your target audience and goals, you can generate new ideas, tactics, and insights that you may not have considered in the past.

ChatGPT can be used to create a roadmap from scratch or ideate on an existing roadmap. This is also a great tool to use when you’re experiencing writer’s block.

Customer persona development

Understanding your target audience is crucial for effective growth marketing. Most organizations will build out personas to create clear messaging paths for their audience.

You can use ChatGPT to help refine and expand your customer personas, adding unique details that help tailor your marketing messages and reach your audience more effectively.

Start by providing basic demographic information and asking ChatGPT to generate insights about their pain points, motivations, and preferred communication channels.

The prompt

“ChatGPT, what are some key characteristics and preferences of [persona] in the [target] industry?”

Competitor analysis

Analyzing your competitors’ marketing strategies is not only a smart move but also a vital one when developing your growth marketing roadmap. By keeping a close eye on the competition, you gain a deep understanding of industry dynamics and uncover areas where you can experience growth.

ChatGPT can provide valuable information about your competitors’ strengths, weaknesses, and key differentiators. With the right prompt, you can gain insights into your competitor’s messaging, channels, and customer engagement tactics to help you identify areas where you can outperform them.

Content strategy and creation

Content is the backbone of any successful growth marketing campaign, generating organic traffic and nurturing your primary audience.

Use ChatGPT to generate ideas for blog topics, social media posts, video scripts, or email newsletters. This can help you explore different angles, formats, and keywords to optimize your content strategy. It can also assist in creating engaging headlines and compelling calls-to-action.

“ChatGPT, what are some trending content ideas for a [target] company targeting [persona]?”

Continuous optimization

To achieve continuous growth, you need to optimize your marketing efforts constantly. Use ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas for A/B testing, experiment with different ad copy, or suggest optimization techniques for landing pages. With ChatGPT you can develop a systematic approach to testing, measuring results, and refining your growth marketing strategies.

The prompt

“ChatGPT, what are some effective methods to optimize our social media ad campaigns and improve conversion rates in the [target] industry?”

Process documentation

The best way to run effective projects is by having clearly documented processes and documentation, no matter what role you’re in. This is especially true when you’re primarily working with cross-functional teams, which is often the case with most growth marketers.

You can use ChatGPT to create a first draft of any process, from project management to SEO implementation.

“ChatGPT, can you write me a process for implementing [tool] at my organization?”

A few more tips before getting started

Make it your own

Please, please, please, don’t take your ChatGPT content and use it without giving it a read and in most cases, a rewrite. ChatGPT doesn’t know your brand tone and voice, or how you describe your product or messaging.

Can it get you close to final? Yes. But more often than not it will create a good draft to build on. After all, if you want it to really have a human touch, you’ll need to put your own spin on it.

Don’t be afraid to ask for more or less

Say you ask ChatGPT to write you content for a social post or blog post, if you find that it’s too long or short, just ask it to make an adjustment. You can do this by asking for it to adjust to a specific character count, or even saying something like “Can you make that a little shorter/longer?”

You might have to rewrite your prompt

Sometimes you may submit a prompt that doesn’t give you exactly what you’re looking for. It doesn’t mean that ChatGPT doesn’t understand the topic, but that it doesn’t understand the question.

Try rewriting your question with more specifics to generate the right response. Provide clarity with additional details and context.

For example, you may ask ChatGPT for a list of social post ideas for a business. This is very general and probably won’t get you a very targeted response. Try asking for industry-specific information or giving it more context.

Dive deeper into your results

Your conversation with ChatGPT doesn’t have to end with one prompt. Ask it to go deeper on a specific topic to continue to build out a more robust strategy.

Take our example in the content strategy and creation section of this article. We asked ChatGPT, “What are some trending content ideas for a B2B IT consulting company targeting C-level executives?

And to that, it said:

Now that we understand all of the great content themes we could potentially use, let’s dig a little deeper and figure out what exactly we could be writing about.

In the same chat, I followed up with “Can you give me five ideas for thought leadership articles for the same audience?” Leading to the response below.

Summing it all up

Utilizing the right ChatGPT prompts can greatly benefit growth marketers when it comes to building their roadmap and achieving results. By leveraging ChatGPT’s capabilities for generating ideas, refining customer personas, analyzing competitors, shaping content strategies, and optimizing marketing efforts, growth marketers can gain valuable insights and drive business growth.

With the help of ChatGPT, you can create a roadmap that is innovative, unique, and built to generate results.
