He started playing in bands around 15–16 years old, and has since explored various genres, but currently is in a R&B/Pop phase. Asa’s most recent EP, titled “1991,” features a song called “Lake St (In Venice),” which got some really good reception.

“Lake St (In Venice)” is a last minute addition to the EP, but it has quickly become a fan favorite. For Asa, the song represents the feeling of being in Venice Beach for the first time and making music out there. The chill but moody vibe of the song captures that feeling perfectly.

Asa’s musical influences are diverse, ranging from Jodeci, Aaliyah, Tupac, and Usher to NSYNC, Brittany Spears, and Christina Aguilera. He was also heavily into bands like Norma Jean, As Cities Burn, and Deftones during his teen years. Currently, he’s been listening to Brent Faiyaz and Ethel Cain.

The EP “1991” still has one song left to release, called “Bad Taste,” which should be out in the next month. Asa describes the song as having a lot of early 2000's/Justin Timberlake influence, and it features a collaboration with his friend Casey Smith from the band Suitor. Asa is excited to work with Casey, and is looking forward to releasing the song and preparing for some shows this Summer.

Asa’s advice to aspiring musicians is to stay consistent and work hard. He believes that with hard work and dedication, anyone can achieve their goals in the music industry. You can keep up with Asa on all socials under the handle @asalloyd.
