Yeah, the fierce independence of filmmakers will not be stopped. That’s why i think we’re at a watershed moment! The only problem I see with it is the experience for audiences if every filmmaker is also a distributor/platform. It’s why we’re (we=Seed&Spark) making a platform to aggregate the folks who want to basically start their own small businesses, and benefit from the work everyone is doing to build audiences. I see the fundamental brand challenge which is: how do we remain a trustworthy platform that doesn’t do what the YouTube’s and Amazons do in the future? I think it will eventually mean becoming a business collective, giving a share of ownership to everyone. Yeah, that’s probably creative democratic socialism. I’m ok with it!
