Wow what an interesting point of view! I honestly was pretty happy about that ad and almost shared (promoted) it yesterday. You are making me glad I paused on that thought. I totally get your point — and interestingly, this debate is someone defending what is real (trans people, women’s rights & climate change) against ignorant bigots. Why not have a trans woman who hates whites cis men, a guy who lynches climate deniers & a militant feminist who thinks men are made to die in war and produce money? Let the other parties feel the weight of being attacked and marginalized and expect them to defend their worth & facts over a cold one. My mind is really rethinking this one. Thank you. The burden of truth lies on those who make false claims. Women and trans people or any marginalized group don’t “owe” anyone the time to educate them on why they should have equal rights. And those viewpoints should not have equal consideration. I still like the premise of seeing each other as humans first, connecting and relating ( I think it’s why the internet is such a toxic space — we are all anonymous and disconnected) — but I wish those issues had been reasonable issues to debate against those treated each other as equals without qualifiers.
