Changing the Standard of Standardized Testing

Testing used to be simple. You would learn a concept thoroughly, and then be tested on it. Now, that doesn’t necessarily happen. Tests cover more information then there is time for there to learn it. Also, some of these tests affect how teachers perform on their yearly evaluations. Standardized testing has been a huge problem and whenever anyone tries to complain, even teachers, they are completely disregarded. Standardized testing has affected students and teachers negatively and the biggest way to resolve the issues is for the people making the tests to listen to the schools.
What Effects Does Standardized Testing Have On Students and Teachers?
- Students are more stressed as well as teachers
- Students resort to focus drugs or not sleeping
- Students resort to cheating
- Teachers fear losing their jobs for not teaching to the test
- Teachers opinions are not being heard

Alternatives of Standardized Testing
- Lessen stress
- Restructure time crunches
- Get teacher and student input
- Restructure almost completely to explore real benefits
Overall, nobody knows exactly what to do about standardized testing. But we do know that it is a problem that can’t go on any longer because it is a huge threat to the education system that we had spent so many years on making available to everyone.
