Forget Being Perfect, Just Be Courageous and Mine The Treasure Within You

Being a liberator of what other people have inside them to offer up, is a mirror to what I am passionate about for myself in my own life. As an alchemist, it’s just my nature to transform, dig deeper and to discover what it is inside me. To pursue my soul’s treasure, and to mine my own gold. I’ve found most of these riches in the background of my mind, an area I call the “what I don’t yet know, that I don’t know about myself part.” This is the place where our fears and limiting beliefs; but also our untapped potential live. This soul part of myself, and of other people, has become that with which I am most fascinated. This deep knowing of ourselves, is the place from which I believe our value originates and it takes being courageous to find it.

My daughter Daisy has taught me a lot about the complexities of a soul. A Gemini, she is two very distinct halves. She has true duality within. One half of her is: balls to the wall, self knowing, decides easily and doesn’t give. This part of her very much confidently marches to the beat of her own drum. The other half opposite to the first: is shy and often lacking in courage and confidence. When this half leads, she is often a perfectionist, sometimes has a compare and despair mentality, and often stops herself short of potential.

As a mom, and a coach, who is on a mission to prevent people from stopping themselves “three feet from their gold,” you can imagine this is often a huge tug at my heart.

In those not so courageous and less self knowing moments with Daisy, I teach her something that I would like to share with you. I explain that we need to forget trying to be perfect. That perfection doesn’t exist, and striving for it will just stop us dead in our tracks. That most likely, pursuing perfection, it will end up causing us to contract and play small.

Instead, I just ask her to be courageous and brave and to know she is so valuable. (As a side note, we even have a secret sign to signal each other to be brave when we feel the other is lacking in courage or needs and extra reminder. What we do is make like a muscle man who is flexing, tap our bulging biceps and lip synch to each other…”be brave.” I’m saying the same to you.)

In Big Magic a book by the inspiring author Elizabeth Gilbert, she poses the question, “Do you have the courage to bring forth the treasures that are hidden within you?”

Great question. Do you?

I know it took me many many years to find my courage, to dig deeply and to uncover my soul’s treasure. It took me a lifetime to own my value on that deep a level. When I knew and owned my value, everything changed. Courage and confidence came to me much more easily. Most of all I became passionately inspired, and on a mission, to help Daisy, and others find her/their: treasure, way and to own their value much sooner than I had done.

If you haven’t yet figured out how to muster up what courage you need to find your inner treasure miner, I passionately I plead with you to get curious about how you can. If you need help knowing where to start find a coach, someone like me, a mentor or just do some deep self study.

Please promise me you will. Don’t let this life pass you by with your “music still in you.”

The truth is that each are here to “offer up” something unique, something powerful. I for one want to benefit from the hidden treasures in you. More importantly, I don’t want you to miss out on what it feels like to find your gold, share it and then reach your full potential.

If no one has ever said so, you are valuable beyond measure. Even with all of the things that you seem to think are imperfect you are a vessel that holds a valuable treasure that’s not inside anyone else. Don’t ever stop digging that 100-foot hole inside yourself necessary to find what you are here to offer up, even if you have to dig with a teaspoon.

You are priceless. We all collectively need what you have to offer up.
