Here’s What’s Ahead for ShapeShift’s Marketing Program

New Year. New ShapeShift. New Chapter.

Working for ShapeShift have been a wild ride full of growth. As CMO, I’ve been lucky to hire and work with a team of exceptional crypto-marketers and crypto warriors who’ve taken this extremely challenging, yet impactful industry, into their waking and sleeping hours.

We’ve come a long way from when ShapeShift was run only by a small group of people working out of a basement.

I first joined as the CMO of ShapeShift during the fall of 2014. I worked out of Erik Voorhees’ home office in Telluride (he knew that good marketing and branding mattered). Here that I learned the concept of ‘wearing all hats’ — navigating everything from office management to customer support, business development, marketing, and public relations.

As the years progressed, ShapeShift’s growth showed no signs of slowing down. Naturally, we hired talented people to help take some of my hats many hats off of my head.

Milestones, Triumphs, & Achievements

Since then, the ShapeShift team has reached many exciting milestones while steadily and diligently tackling marketing, PR and other industry challenges.

Some highlights include:

  • A successful launch in 2014 with our first conference in Miami in 2015 stealing the show.
  • The launch of our market data site CoinCap.io and subsequent mobile app (for iOS and Android) — the first multi-coin app in existence.
  • Surviving the 2016 hack, proving that being the only non-custodial wallet of our time was security by design.
  • Successfully completing our Series A funding round.
  • Acquiring Bitfract as well as the hardware wallet KeepKey

New Year, New ShapeShift, New Chapter

As you may already know, in January 2019, we introduced a new face for ShapeShift.

But after plenty of soul searching in attempts to determine what the brand needs to truly go to the moon, I’ve realized it’s time to find a new marketing leader — one with more extensive skill sets — to steer this entire marketing and communication spaceship forward.

What’s Next

With this realization in mind, it’s my duty to share with you the next phase of my journey and what it means for ShapeShift: I’ve decided to step down from my role as ShapeShift’s CMO — although my story isn’t over yet.

Soon, I’ll be shifting into a new role as ShapeShift’s Vice President of Branding & Creative.

But I don’t see this as a step-down — or even sideways — but rather as a step forward.

Search is On

The search for ShapeShift’s new SVP (Senior Vice President) of marketing is already underway.

The full job description can be found here

We are looking for someone who has both the character and the bravery to take on this high-tech industry. They must have a passion for learning and encompassing everything that is crypto, as the passion for what we are building is immensely important.

We can’t wait to see what’s next as we forge ahead toward a completely new, technological, sovereign global future.
